Another Turkey Shoot for Phantoms as Feds Fires Four

When your opponents fail to register more than four shots on goal in any period and only ten in the entire sixty minutes then it is fair to say you have the game totally in your control from start to finish which was the case down in the valleys tonight as Phantoms served up a 9-2 road win over the Fire of Cardiff.

A 2-20 shots on goal advantage for Phantoms in the first enabled Leigh Jamieson to grab a brace with James Ferrara and Nathan Salem also helping themselves for a 4-0 lead. Presumably in fear of hypothermia setting in, Euan King was pulled after just 15 minutes to let Jack Peacock take the rest of the game.

Despite an equally dominant middle period, a Nathan Salem marker on 32:06 was the only addition to the scoreline but a Fire goal just eleven seconds into the final period was enough to spark Phantoms back into life as captain James Ferrara filled his boots with a further three goals to go with a Will Weldon powerplay goal to bring the total up to nine for the night. Fire grabbed a late consolation through David Manning to at least end their torrid weekend on a high note.

MOM not surprisingly went to James Ferrara for his impressive 4+1 return.

The result extends Phantoms lead to four points at the top of NIHL1 with main rivals Basingstoke Bison still holding two games in hand. The two teams meet next Saturday in Basingstoke with the pressure very much now on the Bison !
