New format for 2018/19 Autumn Cup

A number of changes have been announced for next season’s Autumn Cup, one of which is that it really will be played in the Autumn with the competition dominating the early part of the season and concluding with the final in October.

The southern group will feature defending Cup holders Swindon Wildcats, Basingstoke Bison and Peterborough Phantoms while the northern group will be made up of Sheffield Steeldogs, Hull Pirates and Telford Tigers.

The key difference to last season’s competition is that each team will ONLY play fixtures against the teams in the other group and there will be only one home and one away fixture against each team. In other words, Phantoms will play home and away once against Sheffield, Hull and Telford.

At the end of the round robin games, the top side in each group will play a two-legged final with games taking place midweek …… presumably unless Hull make the final !!!
