Phantoms 2 proved to have way too much on offer tonight for the visiting Cardiff Fire second string. As with the Fire NIHL1 team, Cardiff don’t travel well and turned up with barely two lines which was enough to stay competitive in an opening period that Phantoms edged 2-1 thanks to a brace of goals from Conor Pollard but after that it was one way traffic as Phantoms ran riot with no fewer than eleven different players getting on a scoresheet that showed a 14-2 scoreline by the final buzzer. The final period alone saw Phantoms outshoot fire to the tune of 25-5 which registered an 8-0 scoreline !
Top goalscorer was Conor Pollard with 3+1 but top points scorer was captain Clint Herring with 0+5. On the penalty front, Jon Brammall picked up a Game penalty for roughing after being slashed by Fire’s Iwan Davies who gained a Match penalty for his sins !
Phantoms remain in fifth place in the NIHL2 table and are in action again next Saturday when they host Bristol Pitbulls in Bretton, face-off 5:30pm.
