A long trip down to Cardiff to play a Comets side on a hot streak of five back to back wins was never likely to end well for the thirteen Penguins who made the near 300 mile round trip and so it turned out.
Once again a lone standout player was the scourge for the Penguins as Olivia Taylor racked up 5+3 ahead of the 35 minute mark when, with Comets leading 7-0, Leah De Mar showed a little too much fighting spirit when despatching the hotshot with what was adjudged to be a headbutt. Unfortunately, the resulting Match penalty backed up with a ten minute abuse to the officials call as a chaser is likely to leave Penguins bench even shorter for a few games to come !
With the Comets grabbing the opener in the third for 8-0, Isabel Gibbs grabbed Penguins sole marker on the night before the home side extended away to finish 11-1 ahead at the final buzzer.
The Penguins will be taking a break now until Saturday 5th January 2019 when they’ll be travelling down to Invicta who are a point behind Penguins despite Penguins having zero points …… go figure !!!
