Phantoms [NIHL2] Firepower Scares Off Huskies !

On a night of explosive displays around the city, Phantoms [NIHL2] served up their own devastating display of firepower to snap their losing streak against the Huskies of Haringey.

Bolstered by Taylor Romeo and Jack Escott, Phantoms launched into the visitors with early strikes from Conor Pollard and James Pentecost to open up a two goal advantage inside the first two minutes. They were then gifted further opportunity when Haringey accumulated six minutes of penalties in the next eight minutes of the game, after which they found themselves 4-0 down thanks to powerplay markers from Conor Pollard and Taylor Romeo.

After dominating the opening period, Phantoms found a different challenge in the second as a fired up Huskies took the game to Phantoms, outshooting them 17-9 and striking back early with a quickfire brace from former London Raider Seb Downing but Phantoms closed the period out with a reassuring brace of their own with late goals from Jake Samal and James Pentecost extending their lead back to four goals at the second break.

Having learnt the lessons of the middle period, Phantoms came out ready to roll in the third and Nick Alley put away two feeds from Conor Pollard inside the first minute to kill the game off at 8-2. Huskies never rolled over and slowly pegged Phantoms back to 8-5, finishing their scoring with a shorthander on 55:17 but Phantoms were able to extend away again with late goals from Jack Escott and Jordan Liddell for a 10-5 final score.

Phantoms now have a great opportunity to climb the NIHL2 South table with five very winnable games coming up including four against teams in the bottom five places in the table. The first of those will be next Saturday evening away to Invicta, face-off 5:15pm.
